Question: the following scripture at Philippians 2:11 (New International Version) and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Manofstone: That's what I'm doing now Uncle Thesis: I didn't mean that they leave the verse out of the bible. I meant when they "quote" this verse orally or in writing (like in YA)

Trinitarians try to use Philippians 2:5-11 to "prove" the Trinity (which is actually pretty funny because it does the exact opposite). Saying "every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord" helps them prove the Trinity. But tagging the words "to the glory of God the Father" to the end of the quote helps disprove the Trinity. Hence, they tend to leave it out. And I too have noticed that some tend to do this. Philippians 2:5-11 disproves the Trinity because verse 6 says, not that Jesus WAS God, but that he existed in God's "form," i.e., he was a spirit creature. (Likewise, verse 7 says that he took a slave's "form," and became a man. He didn't become The Slave, or The Man, but a slave, and a man. Therefore, being in the "form" of God doesn't make Jesus God.) Then verse 7 says that Jesus did not consider seizing something that did not belong to him: that he should be equal to God. Some translations say that Jesus didn't "grasp" at being equal to God, implying that he was already equal to God, but then let go of his grasp. However, this is an inaccurate translation. The Greek word is a form of "harpazo." "Harpazo" and it's related forms ONLY mean trying to seize or rob something that doesn't belong to you. It NEVER means releasing one's grasp of something one already had. Verse 8 says that Jesus was obedient. How can God be obedient? Verse 9 says that God (it says "God," not "the Father") exalted Jesus to a superior position. How can Jesus be exalted to a superior position if he already had the highest position in the universe: God? Finally, verse 11 says that Jesus being exalted was, not to the glory of Jesus himself, but to the glory of God the Father. No Trinity here.

Not to mention, Michael Jackson's mom is going to have a tribute to her son, in the Kingdom Hall. Excuse me? How come he gets special treatment. he was an apostate. Oh I know, they have money..maybe thats why.

It is as implied by Jessica: "Oui. La traduction du Nouveau Monde est l'une des dix meilleures traductions de l'Ecriture Sainte. Il est à la gloire de Dieu, notre Père, l'Eternel" When we quote, it should be in harmony with the scripture stated and especially in context with the entire bible.

First, I would like to thank you for saying "Most" and not all. As a Christian I don't leave any of it out. To properly quote something you need to show/say all of it to make it worthy to quote.

sometimes its because the point we're trying to get across only requires the first part. the second part wasn't necessary for what we were saying. sometimes that's why

I am not an ex-JW nor have I ever been a JW, but I have seen the same thing many times and here is one example: 1984 "The Catholic Church occupies a very significant position in the world and claims to be the way of salvation for hundreds of millions of people. Any organization that assumes that position should be willing to submit to scrutiny and criticism." {AWAK Aug 22 1984 28} 1983 "A third requirement is that we be associated with God's channel, his organization. God has always used an organization.. To receive everlasting life in the earthly Paradise we must identify that organization and serve God as part of it." {WT Feb 15 1983 12} [compare with "For the same reasons that Jesus did not organize congregations while present with his disciples in the Jewish harvest, we do not consider expedient or necessary organizations even simple and unsectarian as those established by the apostles." {WR Oct 1883 536}] 1983 "And just as in the first century there was only one true Christian organization, so today Jehovah is using only one organization. (Ephesians 4:4, 5; Matthew 24:45-47) Yet there are some who point out that the organization has had to make adjustments before, and so they argue: 'This shows that we have to make up our own mind on what to believe.' This is independent thinking. Why is it so dangerous? Such thinking is an evidence of pride. And the Bible says: 'Pride is before a crash, and a haughty spirit before stumbling.' (Proverbs 16:18) If we get to thinking that we know better than the organization, we should ask ourselves: 'Where did we learn Bible truth in the first place? Would we know the way of the truth if it had not been for guidance from the organization? Really, can we get along without the direction of God's organization?' No, we cannot!.. Fight against independent thinking." {WT Jan 15 1983 27} [compare with "For the same reasons that Jesus did not organize congregations while present with his disciples in the Jewish harvest, we do not consider expedient or necessary organizations even simple and unsectarian as those established by the apostles." {WR Oct 1883 536}] They use the Catholics words of salvation and say they should be willing to submit to scrutiny and criticism while the JW's are saying the same thing but The JW's must be submissive to their leaders and not do as they say as they are unwilling to submit to scrutiny and criticism that the preach. Is this not hypocritical, do as I say not as I do. The JW's have a long history of attacking the Catholics while borrowing from them such as listed about. The JW's also believe that it's the organization only that can understand the bible, as it is with the Catholics. You are so right, you have the freedom of choice and you should not choose simply because your family thinks it's right. You must think it's right, or it is not right for you. Anyhow, I think you are very much on the right track, so keep the faith, it's your faith, not mine, not your family's but yours. That's your personal relationship with God and that's how it's meant to be. God bless!
