You can't solve these unless they're equal to 0. But you can simplify them. Hint: Use parentheses ( ), square brackets [ ], * for multiplication in your notation 1) (3-3x) / (3x^2+6x-9) Factor out the numerator and denominator if possible. (3-3x) / (3x^2+6x-9) 3(1-x) / 3(x^2 + 2x - 3) 3(1-x) / 3(x+3)(x-1) 2) (x^2+9x+14) / x * 9 / (3x+21) Factor out if you can. (x+7)(x+2) / x * 9 / 3(x+7) The x+7 in the numerator and the denominator cancel each other out, leaving you with: (x+2) / x * 9 / 3 (x+2) / x * 3 3(x+2)/x 3) (3x+8) / (x^2-16) + 4 / (x^2-16) Since the denominators are the same, you can add the numerators together. (3x +8 + 4) / (x^2-16) (3x + 12) / (x^2-16) Factor out if possible. 3(x+4) / (x+4)(x-4) The x + 4 cancel each other out, leaving: 3 / (x-4) 4) UPDATED: If the equation should say (9x^0y^8) / 2^8, you can simplify it. (9x^0y^8) / 2^8 Since anything to the power of 0 is 1, this means: (9*1*y^8) / 2^8 This simplifies to 9y^8 / 2^8

1 . 3 a - 8 b = 9 ---> 24 a - 64 b = 72...{ x 8 }....... .... 8 a - 9 b = 5----> 24 a - 27 b = 15...{ x 3 }...subtract : - 37 b = 57 , now find a #2. multiply the 1st by 3 , subtract from the 2nd , solve for y , then x....leave as a fraction #3. replace y in the 1st with { y = } 6x + 5...solve for x , than y

The question asks you in looking "if six hundred represents 100 what does 174 represent?" six hundred ->100 174 -> ? which translates to an mathematical equation ? = (100*174)/six hundred ? = 29 So the answer is 29 % of six hundred is 174. In different words an same sentence transaltes to "174 is 29 % of six hundred"
