Why is it so difficult for me to get health insurance?!? Topic: Why is it so difficult for me to get health insurance?!?

Question: I’m 23 yrs old in Maryland and I’m trying to buy my own health insurance for the first time. I haven’t been to the doctor in so long so I’ve been having issues lately with my seasonal allergies. During this past year I went to an ENT specialist without insurance to get medication/prescription for a sinus infection and paid cash. The ENT specialist recommend I get sinus x-rays if the medication didn’t clear up the problem. I am still having issues with it so I decided to apply for insurance so I could afford further treatment. However I’ve applied to 2 places, both companies called me for an “interview” where they asked me a bunch of questions over the phone about any treatments I received or have been recommended to have. I have been declined twice with them saying “get the recommended treatment done then reapply” WHY??? OMFG I don’t have a serious ongoing illness why are these people giving me such a hard time???? =( What do I do?? Thanks….

It is so difficult because insurance companies are not charities. They are not going to take a $150 premium and turn right around and pay out $1500 for your treatment. If they did, they'd go out of business. It would be the same if you tried to get auto insurance right after your totaled your car or home insurance after your house burnt. What you can do is get the new Pre-existing Conditions Insurance Plan. This plan is a result of the Affordable Care Act. You must have been uninsured for at least 6 months and have a pre-existing condition that would cause a decline, and it sounds like you'd meet both criterion. You can get more info about the plan available in Maryland here: http://www.yourhealthplanadvisor.com/PCI...

We will never lower costs until we address Tort Reform, and I don't see that happening with the Democrats in power. They were talking about importing drugs from Canada without any mention of Canada's strict Tort laws. Once those drugs cross the border they will be subjected to our laws. It's not easy, and politicians don't have the answer. They tell you what they think you want to hear. You are correct. Price controls kill investment. Look at the price of antibiotics and you can easily see why development of new drugs is stagnant, yet something has to be done soon because the overuse has created a dangerous situation with adapted bacteria and viruses.

Kam Originally Answered: Why does Obama's health care plan offer public health insurance to illegal aliens? What's next?
Pg 170 Lines 1-3 HC Bill Any NONRESIDENT Alien is exempt from individual taxes. (We as Americans will pay for their health care services) PG 91 Lines 4-7 HC Bill - Govt mandates linguistic-appropriate services. Example: Translation for illegal aliens, since every legal immigrant is given a test for naturalization and given their green card. Meaning they can read, write, and speak english. I know this because every test given in this county by our government is in english. Even our schools will not and are not authorized to give tests in any other language. Pg 167 Lines 18-23 ANY individual who doesn't have acceptable HC according to Govt will be taxed 2.5% of income. The great part about this is that if you are a legal american your income will be taxed for not having health care. But as you can see above if your illegal your exempt. What kind of nonsense is that. If anyone here honestly believes that illegal immigrants will not be covered under this bill you need to open your eyes and read the bill. Quit speculating off of each other and taking everyone's views as your own. EX.. CNN, FOX and especially Obama There is no line in the bill that says they will be covered it is hidden in all the other lines. Read the entire thing all you'll see all the pieces come together. Since when did we as Americans start letting our government do our thinking for us. It's honestly disturbing how gullible people really are.
