Question: Opening a new business and as a promotional idea, Id like to give away free cups of coffee with my company logo on the cup, in the area i plan on operating. Do i need a license from the public health office or something like that. Wanted to do everything by the book to avoid potential problems.

good thinking on your part. you probably are not violating any health laws, but to be on the safe side contact your local county health department for information.

John many people have floaters, they are a nuisance but for the most part harmless...However in your case I wouldn't give up your drivers license, because as long as you can drive safely during the day you can still go out and do things, and see people....Don't cut yourself off before you have to... If you take the next test and are unable to pass then perhaps you'll have no option but to give it up, but you sound like a cautious and careful driver..Don't give up on the one thing that gives you soooo much pleasure. God Bless you always, Mona

I've had "floaters" for the past 40 years. Everyone has them. Just make sure you have a vision test (Optometrist or Opthamologist) every 2 years,or more often. If you have an eyeglass or contact lens prescription, wear them. If your glasses or contacts are scratched or damaged, replace or repair them. Wear sunglasses with UV protection while outdoors. Diet, exercise, good nutrition, vitamins and supplements like bilberry and blueberry extract are supposed to be good for your eyes, ask your eye doctor about them. Loss of night vision is another, different issue. Most people begin to lose this ability around age 50, but some lose it earlier. It's possible you may not be able to drive at night. Beta Carotene and Bilberry might help, but as above, discuss this with your eye doctor.

"I complained to the doctor about whether I was a safe driver or a risky driver" If you feel like you are a risky driver, you are. Period. You're looking for excuses. You're clearly worried; please don't put others at risk. Please don't look for excuses like "my dr said I'm not a risk" (I'm sure that is not what he said; he might not have pulled your license but he didn't say "you aren't a risk") or "what do you, yahoo! strangers, think? Am I a risk?" This is silly; you have stated in this question and in others that your vision is significantly impaired. I do not believe that the dmv test is given outside after dusk, so... if you can barely pass it (as you've stated) there is something wrong. Adding to the concern is that you are "97% deaf." I know it's hard but there is no reason to risk lives for convenience and fun. Regardless of how much you enjoy cars.

You'll probably need a vendor's license and health certificate. You can't do anything anymore without a license, permit, certification or tax. Get in touch with your local health dept. You will need a HOT warning on your cups and coffee machine to keep the burn victims from hiring a lawyer for your negligence for not reminding them that coffee is hot and when they stain their clothes. The city will hold you responsible for trash pickup of styrofoam cups scattered on the sidewalks and street because you did not make a garbage can available on every corner in a six block area. Sewage dept. will expect money to clean the cups that fell into the pipes etc, etc. I'm just venting but the laws today and legal litigation are serving to put the small businessman out of business. Good Luck

You are still on probation according to what you just wrote. VA can do what ever they want. Usually if you have a DUI in one state and move to another, the state you move to honors what the DMV in your old state said AND can have you complete what their program is as well. Driving is a privledge and we are at the mercy of the DMV's If you weren't on probation, they could still require you to complete THEIR alcohol safety program. The reinstatement fee is what you would have to had paid in OH after your probation was up and they would issue a license without restrictions. In CA no matter what, you pay between $75 and $156.00 anytime you have your license reinstated after it has been suspended or revoked. It really feels like a scam and it is as far as I'm concerned and the other part that fries me is the court has NO juristiction over the DMV the court can not tell the DMV what to do. DMV is above and beyond the court system. The court can tell you that you can have your license back, the judge can do the same thing and if DMV says NO....guess who wins? D M V !!

Once your license is suspended or revoked, it remains that way until you pay a reinstatement fee. If you don't pay the fee, they do not allow you to get a license in their state, or any other.
