Remember your formula for the circumference of a circle ? It is 2 times Pi times radius (C=2PiR). If you rearrange the formula a bit, you can solve for the radius (R) which is the same as the "spoke" on your wheel problem...R=C/(2Pi). Pi is equal to about 3.1415926, and we know the circumference, so plug in the numbers...R=(42)/{(2)(3.1415926)} = 6.685 (if you round up, you get 6.69...ANSWER "D"). Hope this helps...good luck !

D. Divide 42 by 3.14 to get the width of the wheel, then divide that in half the get the length of a spoke (usually halfway between the rim and the hub). I think.

42 divided by 3.14. And that answer divided by 2...So the answer is D...if the spoke goes all the way across the wheel and not to just the middle then the answer is C

Circumference = Diameter x π Radius x 2 = diameter Radius = 16 (8 x 2 = 16) 16 x 3.14 = 50.24 You are correct. Your book probably wants you to solve it.
